Abbie is now 18 pounds, 8 ounces (25-50 percentile) and is 28 inches long (30th percentile). Her doctor advised her weight and head and length are all in the average range (she used to be in the lowest bracket within normal on all), but her length is a little on the lower end of normal. SHOCKER! I just laughed and told her neither of Abbie's parents are the tallest kids in class, so this is no real surprise!
I was told that we should plan to have Abbie completely off of her bottle and on 2 cups of whole milk plus solids a day by time she has her one-year visit. *gulp* Yes, I've heard this from all of you mommies with kids slightly older than Abbie, but most of you have hungry little boys and I just have a hard time imagining Abbie eating enough to sustain her - she just does not take in may calories outside of bottles. She is sporadic at best with how much she eats per meal, as far as solids are concerned. Some days she inhales a whole container of Stage 2 foods, and other times she just wants to nosh on some Cheerios. I realize I have just under three months to work on this, but time flies!
I should also mention that I am a big fat liar. I told my cute little redhead this morning not to worry about her appointment because there would not be any shots today. Turns out they decided to give her the first phase of her flu shot. OOPS!
Before the appointment, Michael and I had to answer a developmental survey with tons of questions about what Abbie can and will do, and what she has not yet done. They entered everything and said she is doing great and is basically doing everything she should be doing at this age. She does not technically crawl, but that seems to be more about her little attitude than physical capabilities. After performing her little downward-facing dog yoga pose, it seems clear that Abbie would prefer to stand up than roughing up her cute little knees by crawling. You are all shocked, right? Miss Abigail thinks she is too good to crawl! She does manage to get around, between pushing backwards, pushing up on her feet and rolling around...just not technically crawling. Appears she will be one of those kids that skips formal crawling and goes straight to walking (no, not to make room for Baby #2).
Abbie did great while we were there (waiting) and only cried while she got her flu shot and for about a minute and a half afterward...the lovely lady at the check-out desk gave Abbie a bracelet and she was insta-cool. So we went to visit Daddy at work for a bit and tried to see everyone there, but only made it to about half of the departments (sorry to everyone we missed!!!) before Abbie got sleepy and a little whiny. I had given her a bit of Tylenol after her shot, so I knew she was ready for a nap, so I loaded her back up and she was passed out before we made it out of the parking lot!
Below are just a couple of quick pictures I took when we got home. I changed her clothes and put on her favorite episode of Blue's Clues (yes, she has a favorite) and I scarfed down some lunch while she played in her pack-n-play.
Hope everyone has a great weekend...I'm going to go play now!
Standing up (her favorite thing to do) while watching Blue (her favorite blue animated puppy).
This is about as far as her little head sticks out over the pack-n-play.
This is after she walked around to the side of the pack-n-play where she could see me. She only watched about 5 minutes of TV before she started looking around for me. She has gotten pretty good at using her hands to guide her around this thing. But the ends are taller, so she peeks her little face down under the cushion so she can see me and then just grins from ear to ear. I love it! It is the cutest thing to me!!
Laughing at me...probably because I was laughing at her!

She is absolutely the most amazing little darling on the planet...bar none. Would not surprise me if she skipped crawling. I know she's ready to talk...came out that way.
The next three months should be some really fun ones.
Can't wait!!
