Abbie, on the other hand, hated it. Well, she loved running up and down the aisles, but as for trying on actual shoes, she wanted no part of it. She would tuck her little toes under and do that limp-body thing that you thought only a 5-year-old would know how to do. Ugh. At one point I actually heard myself say (plead), "Nooo, Abbie. Pleeeeeease try on these pretty white shoes. Nonono...you cannot wear Dora flip-flops to church." Then I heard a fit of giggles from a mom that was a row over with her little girl. All she said in reply (after she quit laughing, of course) was, "Sorry, but it doesn't get any easier." Gee, thanks.
Well, today the weather was absolutely disgusting. It was cold and windy, dark and rainy. There was even a thunderstorm around 1 pm. But after Abbie got up from her nap and was clearly growing tired of her toys, I decided we could at least pretend it was a lovely spring day, so we got bundled up and headed to the nearest park. As you can see, the cooler weather did not slow her down a bit.

And in keeping with our "Spring Day" theme, instead of soup or chili or some other cold-day meal, I opted for BBQ sandwiches. I think Abbie approved.

Now we will just keep our fingers crossed for another day like Saturday...soon!
