Cut me some slack. I never promised I'd be one of those daily-posting people. And I'll tell you now - it's 9:30 PM and I'm exhausted, so this will be short.
This past week was my first full week back at work. And while I like my job, it is totally different once you have a baby (touche, Tina). By the middle of the week, I was saying it was my second full week back, and my husband kept correcting me. Man, was it moving slowly!!! But Abbie and I survived. Well, I never doubted she would, but I had serious reservations about myself. Fortunately, I had spent the week before organizing my screen saver slide show of Abbie pictures, so I had plenty to make me smile throughout the day. And I was turning off my light a 4:59 PM every night!! Get out of my way, I have a baby to get home to!!!!
So, as for Abbie's sleeping schedule, this past week was pretty impressive. She and her cousin were not so good on Monday and apparently neither would nap, but my husband and I were not surprised when she did not sleep Monday night either. We prepared ourselves for it that evening. Most would think no naps during the day equal lots of sleep at night, but Abbie does not seem to be wired that way. So she was up off and on ALL NIGHT and my husband and I were pretty pitiful looking on Tuesday. We kept taking turns during the night, but it mattered not!
My mom kept Abbie on Tuesday and she kept emailing me that Abbie was napping frequently and she was worried that would backfire that evening. But I told her to let Abbie sleep since I knew she must have also been exhausted from the day and night before. But imagine our surprise when Abbie slept from 8:30 to 2:30 and was only up about 30 minutes, then slept until 6:30. I even joked, "I was robbed" Wednesday morning because I agreed to take the first shift...and then there were no more shifts!
Well, Daddy got the first shift on Wednesday night. She slept from 9 until 3...up for 30 minutes, awake around 6:30. SCORE!
Thursday night, bed by 9:30, awake at 3:30, down in less than an hour, slept until 6:45.
Do you see a pattern? Regardless of what time we laid her down, she slept six hours, almost exactly, every night. So we have tried to put her down a little later each night. I just let her catnap in the early evening and give her a bath a little bit later.
She spent Saturday night with her Honey and Papa Tuck (my mom and her hubby) and she pretty much slept from almost 8 until 4...can you believe that??? My mom tried to wake Abbie up around 9:30 to give another bottle and postpone bedtime, but apparently Abbie slept right through that.
Well, I'll tell you more about her weekend later. Despite getting a full-night's rest last night, I'm so sleepy now. I think I've gotten used to this early bedtime myself.
Hey, what do you know??? I can ramble on for a long post, despite blinking profusely!!! But I make no apology for any words spelled incorrectly. I'm tired!
Have a great week!
