Abbie also recognizes quite a few words we say now, so we have taken to spelling things like bottle, daddy, mommy, bath, etc. Seriously, if you say "bottle" and you do not actually have a bottle ready, she will look at your hands and throw her head back in a fit if you are not coming at her with it. I just really thought kids are older when parents have to start spelling things, but add that to the list of things I never knew before I had Abbie.
Last Friday, Michael and I met up at Target after work to stock up on some baby-proofing items. We had really put this off as long as we could, but in the past couple of weeks it became quite obvious how quickly she can get into something, even if we are five feet away. We managed to get a couple of her birthday items for her while we were there, which I found extremely fun! I mean, we are piling up huge boxes right behind her head, and she was completely oblivious. But while she was playing in the cart (with my watch, no less), Michael and I looked down at her and found two new teeth! We had no idea she had cut them!! Guess these two didn't hurt her...go figure!
Tonight, I was really not feeling too great. I'm trying desperately to mentally fight off anything and everything, but today I just wanted to crawl into bed and sleep for 12 hours. While feeding Abbie her dinner, I asked Michael if he thought we could skip a b-a-t-h tonight. Keep in mind, Abbie gets a bath every single night. I love nothing more than a squeaky-clean baby and she loves playing in the bathtub, so it is definitely a win-win. But tonight I just did not have the energy. Now I should also tell you that we have recently been giving Abbie her sippy cup without those stopper-valve things so that she can really learn what comes out of them, but this means we have to hold on to the bottom while she picks it up and drinks from it. No sooner than Michael responded with, "Yeah, I'm sure skipping a b-a-t-h one night will be fine," Abbie proceeds to snatch the sippy cup out of my head and pour some of the half water/half sweet tea on top of her head!!! What do you get when you put sweet tea in beautiful red hair? Why, you get a sticky mess!!!
Now I am beginning to think she can spell, too.
Sticky hair and all! I let Abbie stand beside the bathtub while I run the water each night, and she pounds her hands on the side and cheers at the water. By time I'm ready to put her in, she can hardly stand up straight any more because she is so excited!!! How in the world could I have considered denying her this tonight???

Yeah, weren't you the one giving ME grief for doing that in-the-buggy-behind-you trick just a couple of weeks ago?
She's just absolutely precious.
Well, in all fairness, you let her play with the box! ;) We kept her stuff hidden.
I'm sure she has forgotte about her gift from you already, but that doesn't mean I can't give you a hard time about it. ;)
can you say
ABBS WITHDRAWAL??????
I love babies and bathtime. She is so sweet!
