I'm not sure how old I was when it started, but as far back as I can recall, my mother would let me play with her hair and it was as if I was running my own salon. She would let me brush her hair, practice braiding...you get the idea. And it seems that, in my sweet, innocent mind, my mom was thinking of no one but herself when she so graciously agreed to allow me to play with her hair.
Well, I'm on to you, woman!
My mom had a secret and I have officially figured it out. Abbie now loves to play with my hair. She tells me to sit on my bed while she stands up behind me and brushes my hair with her Ariel hairbrush. The secret? Um, it is AWESOME! She hasn't quite mastered the brushing technique yet, so rather than stopping right at my shoulders (the length of my hair), she keeps running the brush down my back. I gotta tell you, I am like a pure Jell-o the whole time. I could not possibly be a happier mommy than when Abbie plays with my hair.
Oh, yeah, Mom, I am sooo on to you!
And I know, I know...I have admitted before that I am a complete and total nerd, and I do WAY too much research on parenting, so I know how important it is to teach my daughter than she can be anything she wants to be, not just a silly ol' princess. I have every intention of encouraging all her ambitions. But sometimes it is just nice to play "salon" and have my sweet girl tell me that I am "pretty".

Hmmm, I actually think I was thinking about only YOU when i sat for hours and hours of torture via hairbrush!!!
Just let her be a little girl for now. She has plenty of time to muster up some ambitions later :)
