A Busy (Sad) Mommy

No, I am not really sad. I just get the rainy-day blues. Especially when the temperature is in the 70s and 80s during my work week, but it rains all day long on my lovely Saturday. At least that is what happened this past weekend. You could not have asked for better weather last week, but the weekend was awful! Rainy, windy, cold...blah.

I don't think I realized how much the weather was affecting my mood until my husband told me to go pick up a prescription on Saturday afternoon. It wasn't anything major and I was content to wait until Sunday, but he told me, no, that I really needed to go get it Saturday. Hmm...perhaps I was a little cranky?

Sunday rolled around and it was still gray and gloomy, but at least I had our new church to look forward to! Abbie was not sick last week (woot! woot!), but she had a never-ending runny nose, so we decided not to send her to the nursery. I feel certain it was a sign of her allergy problems, but who wants to be the parent that brings the snot-nosed kid to the church nursery, right? So we let her come with us into the sanctuary. I gotta tell you, we have a rockin' chorus at our church too, so I was a little nervous how Abbie would like it. Her eyes were HUGE when we first walked in and she looked a little scared, but she got into it quickly and really enjoyed it. During the preacher's sermon, she just sat in my lap and looked around. However, as she sat in my lap, I was watching Abbie, sneaking a peak at my husband...then I got the giggles. I realized that between the three of us, there was not one stitch of color. Seriously, our wardrobes consisted of nothing more than black, white, cream and gray. Hello?!?! I told you the rain makes me sad. We looked like the Addams Family!

But I digress. Abbie is, as always, hysterically funny to me. She not only repeats anything we say, she now gets a kick out of copying our movements. Yesterday, Abbie and Michael had been in Abbie's room playing, and I could hear Michael groaning as he got up to walk out. I never heard what he said, but I did get to see Abbie following in his footsteps, clutching her legs and saying, "ooooo, kneeeeees!" Too funny!

And in other news, just when you think Abbie might be old enough to turn off the video monitor in her bedroom, she gets so entertaining that I just cannot part with it! Tonight, we watched her get up out of bed, climb on her toy chest and turn on her light, and then proceed to walk around the room and sing some songs. She would go and lay down in bed, then get up and grab a toy, so on and so on...

Her most favorite thing to do lately is to get up at some point in the night, turn on her bedroom light and fan, and then fall back to sleep. In fact, I just checked the monitor and I have to go...she is asleep again with the light on. Good night!
