She officially has her first tooth. Her doctor told us during the six-month visit that both bottom teeth were coming "any day now" and likely close together. She was a bit irritable as this first one tried to cut on out, but it finally made it! And believe me, it is sharp!!! She will still lean over and find a finger and before you can think to stop her, she clamps down. Oh, how much sharper that one tooth is compared to a whole mouthful of teeth!!! But she just grins, like she is showing it off!!!
She also completely sits up on her own and just loves doing it. After every diaper change I sit her up on the changing table and just stand there for a minute so she can look around and every time she puts her hands on her legs and just looks at everything in her room...so sweet and content. I love it!
She has also decided that she wants to hold her bowl and her spoon while I try to feed her. Every one, every book, every magazine...they all say to give them their own spoon so they will focus on that and you can keep cramming the food in their mouth. Um, does anyone realize how stupid that sounds? Give a six-month-old a spoon??? She swings it around, coming so close to her eye that I cannot stand it and take it away from her. I also keep the bowl of carrots (which stain everything in your house, by the way) out of reach, so she slams her fists on the highchair table and then lays her head down. Seriously, I thought I could coast until she was 2 before the tantrums started. Oh, well. I'll just consider her advanced for her age and chalk it up to higher intelligence. Yeah, that sounds good!!!
What else? She got her hair pulled at daycare this week. But that hardly seemed to bother her too much, just an indication of things to come, I'm sure.
Oh, and she has mastered holding her arms up in the air when she is bored with her walker and ready to be picked up. And I have no shame in admitting that it gets me to pick her up every single time! In my defense, that kid will sit in her walker and play or chat with us for 30 minutes, so do not think about telling me I am spoiling her by going to get her.
Besides playing with her laptop, her next favorite game is to swap from me to Michael (there, I used his name) and back again. Anytime one of us is holding her, she will lean out to the other one, who gladly takes her, but then she grins and leans back to the original parent. I have not tested this theory yet, but I feel quite sure that she could go on like this for 30 minutes also.
Oh and no, she has not tired of the laptop at all. She grins the second we turn it on and we both start singing that stupid song...do not even get me started on the songs we sing now. That is another post for another day!!!
This was taken Monday morning. I was supposed to be getting her dressed for the day, but laying in my bed and playing was so much more fun!!!!
