4-Month Pediatrician Appointment

All is well! Michael and I took Abbie for her 4-month check up today and everything is OK.

As for the stats, Abbie weighs 13 lbs., 13 oz. and is 24 inches long. During her past visits, they use the tape measure by holding the end at her head and pulling her leg out to measure her, but today they laid her flat on the white paper (new, fresh paper since she spit up on the first roll the second we got her undressed). Then the nurse used a marker to note the top of her head and just below her heel...then measured the paper. Logical enough, but I spent the rest of the time that we were waiting on the doctor staring at the paper, repeatedly saying, "she cannot be that long!" It looked huge!!!

We had already started Abbie on cereals, but her doctor gave the OK to begin First Foods, which includes green and yellow veggies and fruits. Let's pray she takes after her daddy and loves those peas!!! (UGH!)

As for sleeping through the night, we were told to let her cry more in an effort to see if she'll go back asleep. I say "we" were told, my husband will quickly tell you that "my wife" was told. He could let her cry until the next day, but I hate it. Mainly because I'm awake the second I hear a heavy sigh, so I just want to make it stop!

I'm a work in progress, I get it.

She got 5 immunizations today - 4 shots and 1 oral drop. The oral drop put her to sleep almost immediately. Well, the intense screaming during the 4 shots may have helped. Abbie pouted while the doctor checked her chest and heart rate and the doctor quickly told her she'd win the drama award for the day. (I've been telling everyone she's a drama queen!)

Oh, and both the nurse and doctor bragged on how well she was sitting up and how good her neck/head control is - she would not lay down long while we were there and kept yanking that cute head up so we would pull her upright.

She's passed out, for now, but I'm thinking of trying a new veggie tonight, so I'll post pictures soon of that!

She will go back in two months so please pray no illnesses cause us to go between now and then!

We stopped and grabbed some lunch on the way back and once
Abbie woke up, I threw her in the walker. She then stared at the
bottle of ketchup the entire time I ate. How random is that??

She also kept grabbing the bib and licking it right where the ice
cream is...Michael and I both found it hilarious, but she'd quit before I could
take a picture.

She KNOWS a camera when she sees one!

This was after getting home...little girl was OUT!

How sweet! Thanks for the updates! I remember those First Foods days!!! PS---Let me (and everyone else) know the first time you "let her cry it out" during the night, like your dr. told you to do. :) I'm ready for that story!!!!

First foods were so much fun. Make sure to take tons of pictures and videos. The first exposure to new taste are priceless!
