God Bless the Newbies

Abbie has adjusted really well to daycare. It is still an adjustment for me...as I have said before, it was just nothing I was used to growing up, so it is a lot to take in and get used to as part of your every day life.

Now, I do not want to jinx her to have a bad day tomorrow, but Abbie has done well lately and we always get good reports. Well, most of the time. Her teachers now confess that she was a little fussy in the first weeks, but she has gotten the hang of it. But what tickles me, is that each time a new kid comes to the class, she seems that much more comfortable and happy at daycare. I am sure it has more to do with her age and how long she has been there, but it is a coincidence that I find amusing. A new little girl started last month and I swear to you, she was crying every time I took Abbie in or picked her up. And now there is a new little boy that is crying quite a bit. Both of them are older than Abbie, but she seems to act as though this is her territory now. Today I put her in a walker that was close to the little boy that was crying. Abbie played for a couple minutes and then as I was about to walk out the door, I saw that she had stopped and was looking at the boy with her arm stretched out and she was "waving" at him (technically she turns her hand slowly...palm up, palm down). Ordinarily she usually does this with her hand up by her face, but this time she was holding her arm out to him, like she was trying to get him to come over to her. I started laughing and asking her what she was doing and one of her teachers said, "I think Abbie is saying 'boy, what you crying about???'" But she had that furrowed brow of her daddy's plastered on her face. I swear she was beckoning him to her as if to say, "If you stop all that crying I will let you come play with me"

She is no longer the new kid in town and dare I say, she likes it that way!!!

In other news, Abbie now has learned to take my glasses off of me. I was holding her on one hip this morning while carrying some of her toys in my opposite hand and she just reached up, snatched off my glasses, and then laughed. Ah, hello??
